Position: K-6 Reading, Writing, and/or Math Tutor

Effective Date: 8/11/26

  • Compensation: $45/tutoring hour

  • Reports to: Sommer Schrader, President

  • FLSA Classification: Hourly, non-exempt

  • Hours of Work: Varied, established by tutor and client (sessions most often take place between 4:00 - 7:30pm Monday-Friday).

  • Qualifications:

    • Ability to work well with children and communicate effectively with families.

    • Reliable transportation and internet connection.

    • High energy personality with an enthusiasm for teaching and learning.

    • Maintains an organized digital workspace with excellent time-management skills.

    • Practice integrity and consistency with students; practice punctuality.

    • Must be able to pass a background check.

    • Minimum two years of experience working with children in an educational setting.

    • State teaching license preferred, but not required.

    • Elementary Education Degree work or completion is preferred.

  • Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Prepare lessons and materials for students using digital planning tools such as Common Planner and the Google Suite/Microsoft Office Suite. Tutor must be willing and able to plan lessons involving games, play, project-based learning, and/or arts integration.

    • Administer lessons to students either in-person or virtually through Zoom.

    • Collect ongoing progress monitoring data and generate weekly progress reports to share with families.

    • Communicate with families in an efficient and professional manner through text, email, or call.

    • Keep a consistent schedule, arrive to sessions on time and be prepared for the lessons.

    • Maintain time records independently.

    • Meet with the president, Sommer, twice a month to monitor progress and trouble-shoot.

    • Tutors will be evaluated monthly based on client feedback.

    • Tutors must be willing and able to meet students in their homes or in neutral locations, should the client prefer and in-person session. If meeting virtually, tutors should have a PC, reliable internet, and a microphone.

    • Physical Requirements: digital dexterity sufficient to operating a keyboard, ability to walk into client homes that are not ground-level, ability to lift at least 5 pounds, ability to see and hear.

    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
